Linalool

Linalool is the terpene most recognized for its floral aroma. It is also one of the most commonly consumed terpenes, with the average person ingesting two grams a year (even without the consumption of cannabis). Often found in Indica leaning strains, linalool is usually lower on the rank of top terpenes in a strain, but its effects are mighty and memorable.

Taste and Aroma

Lavender and spice and everything nice. That’s linalool. You know it when you smell it. Often used in desserts and fragrances, linalool is one of the most ubiquitously used and consumed terpenes to date. With its rich floral scent, combining a woodsy timber aroma with a smooth and calming lavender haze, linalool is a favorite terpene among cannabis users.

Sedative: For centuries, linalool has been used as a sedative and muscle relaxer. Most recently, it has shown to have anti-convulsant and anti-epilectic properties.

Anti-bacterial: Research has shown linalool to have antimicrobial properties that aid in fighting cell-damaging bacteria.

Anti-stress and anti-depressant: Studies have shown that linalool can help in the reduction not of cortisol, like some other terpenes, but in the reduction in the shift of depletion of lymphocytes (in times of stress) and the increase of neutrophils (the body’s response to stress) by activated the body’s parasympathetics response.

Potential Treatment for Alzheimer’s: Studies have shown that linalool has the potential to treat Alzheimer’s by regulating and reducing the production of inflammatory proteins in the brain that a responsible for the degeneration of cognitive brain function.
